Questions
What is MagneTan technology?
MagneTan is a revolutionary process that allows the Spray Tan booth to apply a uniform amount of solution to all parts of the body. As the solution passes through the nozzles, the particles of solution are polarized, taking on the characteristics of tiny magnets. MagneTan technology then uses the body's own magnetic properties to attract the solution particles to the skin. The result an uniform, natural looking tan!
Is it safe?
All the components of the tanning solution have been used in cosmetics and food products for decades and have proven to be safe for use on the skin. If you have had previous allergic reactions to self tanning lotions or cosmetics you may want to do a patch test by putting a small amount of the solution on a small area of skin to test for possible reactions.
Will it turn me orange?
No! In the past self-tanning applications have provided an unnatural orange glow often resulting in streaking. This is mostly caused by poor application. Dark spots on elbows, knees, knuckles are common. Hand held sprays tend to run and streak. The misting technology used to apply Spray Tan assures all areas get a uniform coating..
Will I be wet when I step out of the Spray Tan booth?
The mist applied is very fine, by the time you step outside the unit most of the mist will have dried. Some may remain and this should be towelled off. Don't worry about wiping off the solution towelling will not streak and anything that comes off is purely excess. Towel the same as you would after a shower.
How long do I have to wait after a Spray Tan session before I can shower?
We recommend that you wait a minimum of 4-6 hours after tanning to give the DHA enough time to fully absorb. If you shower earlier, you may reduce the intensity of the tan. When you do shower the initial tan created by the water-soluble bronzer will wash off, but the DHA will remain and create your longer lasting tan.
What should I wear?
Most people wear nothing to ensure an all over tan. If you do wear underwear or a bathing suit be aware that the bronzer may stain. The bronzer is water soluble, but the DHA may cause permanent staining.
What happens if the solution gets in my eyes?
There is nothing in the mist that will harm your eyes.
Do I need to cover my hair while tanning in the Spray Tan booth?
Many customers wear disposable shower caps to keep the solution from getting in their hair. Other customers tan without covering their hair. The tanning solution does not penetrate the hair follicle.
Do I need to hold my breath duging the Spray Tan session?
The misting process lasts between 14-18 seconds, therefore if you are able to hold your breath for this time you can. If you can't, don't worry; there is nothing in the solution that will harm you if you breath it in. If you have a history of asthma it is the best to consult your doctor before the session
Are there ways to enchance the results?
Yes, applying a water based moisturiser prior to tanning helps the skin absorb the solution. Using a moisturiser frequently will help the tan last loner. You should not apply moisturiser after the session until the DHA has absorbed – usually 4-6 hours. Certain moisturiser can cause the DHA to streak. Exfoliating before your session will also ensure a more even application of solution.
Will the components of the solution make my skin have an unpleasant smell?
Some customers have commented that they noticed a starchy smell on their skin for a brief period after tanning. This is common with any self tanning product containing DHA and usually not noticeable to those around you.
Can I go swimming after my session?
You should not swim or shower for a minimum of 4-6 hours after tanning. Swimming in chlorinated water at any time can bleach your tan and possibly cause streaking.
How long after a Spray Tan session can I put my clothes back on?
Once dried you may put your clothes back on straight away. If you pursue strenuous exercise, perspiration may cause the bronzer to transfer to your clothing.
How many times do I need to use Spray Tan to get the colour I want?
You will have a tan after one session, but it may take several sessions to achieve your desired colour. Once you achieve your desired colour you should be able to maintain it by tanning every 3-4 days.
If I use Spray Tan, can I also use sunbeds and tan in the sun?
Yes. There is nothing in the solution that prevents you from using sunbeds or tanning in the sun. If you are having a sunbed session, have it before your Spray Tan session. Remember Spray Tan provides no UV protection.
Will my Spray Tan be even or will some parts be darker?
The unit is designed to provide an even overall tan. However people are different heights, shapes and may stand in different positions. It's possible that you may find some areas tan lighter than others. In most cases this disappears after a few sessions.
Will I get a better tan if I have 2 sessions in the same day?
Yes, you will go darker; however we don't recommend back-to-back sessions. The DHA doesn't have time to set and its possible the results won't look natural. Wait 12 to 24 hours between sessions. If you want a darker colour try a Level 3 tan which provides 50% extra DHA in a single session. Always try Level 2 first, unless you are naturally very dark skinned or have a UV tan.
What is in the solution?
The tanning solution has 3 components: Bronzer, DHA, and Aloe Vera.
THE BRONZER
is a water-soluble cosmetic dye designed to produce an instant tan. The bronzer tan remains on the skin until it is washed off. The bronzer will not stain because completely water soluble.
THE DHA (dihydroxyacetone)
is the component that creates the longer term tanning effect. When applied to the skin, DHA reacts with proteins and amino acids in the skin's superficial layer to form a golden brown colour. It will begin to darken 2 to 3 hours after application but reaches its peak colour within 24 hours. In most cases the DHA colour will be darker than the instant bronzer. The DHA tan will begin to fade within 4-5 days. To maintain an optimal tan we recommend you tan every 4 to 5 days.
THE ALOE VERA
helps to carry the DHA deeper into the skin and promotes a softer, smoother skin. Aloe Vera is a natural moisturizer that helps skin draw moisture from the surface. It softens the skin and helps smooth wrinkles.
